THE WOMEN, directed by Janelle Bish, will play the Titirangi Theatre from 6th to 17th September.

Hugely popular when it was first staged and produced countless times ever since, this satirical comedy of manners is described as acidic, witty, lively, hysterically funny... addresses timeless themes of love, jealousy, friendship, social class and contrasting generational values.

Note that Wednesday the 7th will be a special Ladies Night with free bubbly on arrival, and if you book in as a group of 10 or more a special price of $15-00 per head applies, so get a bunch of friends together for a great night out! (Men are of course still welcome!) 

Regular booking opens 2 weeks before the show goes on stage.

Rehearsals: 3 per week, 2 weekdays to suit cast , and Sunday afternoons.
Not everyone will be required for every rehearsal

On Christmas Eve around the turn of the 20th century in French Guiana, three paroled convicts from the local penal colony are working on the roof of a house/shop run by Felix Dulay. They intervene in the lives of the family who are facing financial ruin.
They remind us of the importance of an honest appreciation of love, life and the simple serenity of domestic bliss.

CAST:

Felix Dulay Proprietor of the store, 50/60 yrs
Emilie Dulay his wife, 50/60yrs.
Marie Louise Dulay Their daughter. - 18/early 20s yrs
Madame Parole (Cameo Role) - Age not important but probably 40+
Gaston Lemare. - 50/60yrs
Paul Cassagon - Late 20s/30 yrs
The convicts

Alfred - The youngest, He is an ex-playboy, in jail for Murder for Money He has a "Friend" he keeps with him all the time, Adolphe, a little Snake. 20 to 30 yrs.
Jules . - Killed a faithless wife, fairly well educated and introspective. Late 40's Joseph - "Papa Joseph" he calls himself, an ex-forger and embezzler Late 40s/50
Sub-Lieutenant Espoir (Cameo Role). 20/30.
Apart from the two cameo roles as specified, all the other characters have major speaking roles. Ages are an indication only. This play is a good example of Ensemble theatre.
